How to Separate Access for Multiple Hospitals in One DCM4CHEE and OHIF Setup?

Hi everyone,

I’m still learning how to use DCM4CHEE and OHIF, and I really need some help.

My Setup:

  • I have only 1 DCM4CHEE PACS server
  • And 1 OHIF Viewer

But I want to support multiple hospitals or organizations using this system. My main problem is:

All hospitals can see each other’s patient studies, which I want to avoid.

My Questions:

  1. Is it possible to separate or restrict access per hospital, even with just one DCM4CHEE and OHIF?
  2. Can this be done using AE Titles or any DICOM-based configuration?
  3. Can someone help me step-by-step to do this?
  4. Also, how can I implement security between organizations?
I’m a beginner, so I’d really appreciate simple instructions.

What I Imagine:

For example, maybe:

  • Hospital A uses AE Title HOSPITAL_A
  • Hospital B uses AE Title HOSPITAL_B
  • Then each AE Title only sees its own studies?

I’m not sure how to set this up correctly in DCM4CHEE and OHIF. If this is possible, I would really appreciate a step-by-step guide, or even just some direction.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Welcome to the community @JanLawrence

I understand your question. Have you looked into the DCM4CHEE documentation here Access control based on Archive AEs · dcm4che/dcm4chee-arc-light Wiki · GitHub which discusses the access control setup based on AE titles pretty much as you suggest.

There are few tests on that page you can follow and try it.
